SEP’s new Executive Committee and 2018 conference venue

Thanks to everyone who attended SEP-FEP 2017 in Winchester. It was a terrific event!

At our annual meeting, elections were held for the Executive Committee and for the Society’s four posts. We welcome Stella Sandford to the role of SEP Chair for a three-year term. Jonathan Clark takes on the role of Treasurer, and Henry Somers-Hall becomes Secretary. Beth Lord and Hannah Wallenfels share the role of Communications Officer. The full Executive Committee is listed on the About page.

SEP-FEP 2018 will be held at the University of Essex. Further announcements coming soon!

SEP-FEP 2017 Abstracts Booklet and other info

The SEP-FEP 2017 (4-6 September at the University of Winchester) will be taking place in a little over a week.

The SEP/FEP conference is the largest annual event in Europe that aims to bring together researchers, teachers, and students from different disciplines, interested in all areas of contemporary European philosophy.

An international array of papers and panels will be presented over the three days of the conference. The full programme will be announced later.

Registration:

Waged registration £100, unwaged registration £50. This fee includes three lunches and coffee breaks. You can specify dietary requirements and accessibility requirements as part of the registration process.

Accommodation:

Attendees are welcome to make their own accommodation arrangements for the duration of the conference. Alternatively, we have reserved a number of bed & breakfast rooms in the university’s student accommodation for the duration of the conference. These rooms are for single-occupancy and charge £52pppn. They can be booked as part of the registration process.

Please note that the campus is a ten to fifteen-minute walk from the train station, which is itself an hour’s journey from London Waterloo station.

Bursaries:

The Society for European Philosophy has a limited number of bursaries available to help cover travel and accommodation costs for postgraduate students and other unwaged delegates who are presenting papers at the conference. Priority will be given to applicants who have no (or very limited) funding from their institution or doctoral funder. To apply for a bursary, please complete this application form and send to SEPFEP2017Bursary@gmail.com by Friday 14 July. Applicants will be notified of the outcome by the end of July.

Abstract proposals for individual papers should be no more than 250-300 words and include author and institutional affiliation.

Panel proposals should include a brief panel description of no more than 100 words, with participant names and institutional affiliations, and a 250-300 word abstract for each paper within the panel.
